Personal Care Assistance (CADDS Service Code 062)
Personal Care Assistance is a non-medical program that supports people with disabilities in their activities of daily living. Through Personal Assistance, your loved one can identify one or more Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) to provide one-on-one support. The primary objective of Personal Assistance is to enhance the individual’s overall quality of life while providing meaningful support to their family.
Families can choose a care provider from their personal network, including family members, friends, or other trusted individuals who can provide loving and compassionate support. Please check with your Regional Center regarding any rules or restrictions that may apply to selecting a care provider.
Personal Care Assistance May Include:
- Assistance with functional activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and restroom assistance
- Meal preparation
- Light housework
- Medication reminders
- Assistance with running errands
- General safety supervision
- Recreational activities
- Community-based activities
- Assistance with attending college classes
- Assistance with public transportation
